Explore Puerto Princesa: The City in the Forest

Puerto Princesa is located in the midsection of Palawan Island, Philippines and is known as the Eco-Tourism Center of the Philippines.  Currently, there is a significant growth in the number of tourists visiting the place.  There are a lot of hotels to choose from, ranging from pension houses to a 5 star luxury hotels to accommodate the increasing influx of foreign and local tourists.  The city has a tropical wet and dry climate and is usually wet and cold from June to December and dry and hot for the rest of the months.

How To Get There

Morning Activity 

 If you take a morning flight from Manila, You can explore the city within the day.  After you have checked in, take some rest to prepare yourself for a city tour.  You can coordinate with the hotel management for the city tour for them to facilitate the vehicle for the tour.  The city tour can be done for half a day.

 Lunch Activity

If you opt not to each lunch at the hotel,  after  a short nap and a brief freshening you can try your lunch at Badjao Seafront Restaurant located along Rizal Avenue.

Constructed Atop of a mangrove  habitat, a nice panorama of the sea can be seen from its large  open windows.   You will be amazed to see a person in kayak picking up garbage from  the water.  That’s how the residents value their natural resources.

Afternoon Activity

After a sumptuous meal,  you can drop at Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center, a breeding place for Philippine Crocodiles and home to some endangered animals in the Philippines.

You can see  a breathtaking array of both fresh water and salt water crocodiles.

If you love crocodiles,  you can cuddle baby crocodiles in this place.

Aside from living crocodiles,  fossils of large crocodiles, bear cats, monkeys and birds can also be found in this conservation center.

After  experiencing the wild creatures,  feel  the  cool breeze  that  will brush unto  your face, delight in the awesome view  of Honda Bay  and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of Palawan at Palawan Rancho, also known as Mitra’s Ranch which is located at Sta Monica Heights.

If you like adventure, you can try horseback riding and  zipline and experience the feeling of being able to fly.

After a tiring and enjoyable day, hunger fills the stomach.  Your trip to Puerto Princesa will never be complete without a visit to Kinabuch Grill and Barl

This is an open air restaurant that serves exotic food such as Tamilok            (mangrove worm mollusk) that taste like an oyster and a bikina2t slimy.

You can also try a unique food called Gising-Gising which is a spinach with a small bits of pork and chilles cooked in coconut milk.

Evening Activity

After a hearty meal,  you can drop by at Baywalk Park located beside the port area.  The park is lighted by street lights and a big peacock light.   Peacock is the official seal of Puerto Princesa.
